Suggestion Concept: Minor tweaks simply to encourage role-play, immersion into created characters, more commitment to factions, and more drama and choices for conflict and/or peace between factions.
Reason for Suggestion: I have noticed certain players having a hard time relating to their faction or changing factions on a regular basis. This is for a variety of reasons and the main comment I hear is because they do not feel that the faction is necessarily for them. A way to help out the people that are having this trouble and to also revive players who are feeling dry in the factions they are committed too, I propose minor tweaks to role-play. Encouraging role-play and immersion will help people feel more connected and bonded not only to their chosen faction, but also encourage different ways of resolving issues and creating unique identities for each player.
Execution: Something as vague and generic as role-play enhancements can be as simple or complex as the staff would like to take it. Instead of saying that the staff has to do this or that, I instead included suggestions that players have sent to me and will offer them to you.
(THESE SUGGESTIONS ARE SIMPLY THAT, I AM NOT SAYING THEY MUST BE IMPLEMENTED)
Suggestion 1: A place on the forum, discord, and/or inside Minecraft where players can write down stories, lore, or custom characters that help build immersion.
- Suggestion 2: Allow players to accomplish feats, accomplishments, or special quests given by staff to gain custom titles within their chosen faction. This could also be given/handed out to the faction leaders and could simply inform staff when the leader feels they are worthy.
- Suggestion 3: Having a role-play section in the discord where characters can express themselves and the desires of their custom character/faction
- Suggestion 4: A place on the forum where people can petition to make their weapons considered lore weapons for their character. (The actual suggestion, the person wanted staff to make them weapons.)
- Suggestion 5: Giving rewards and bonuses for those players that are doing a good job at role-play.
- Suggestion 6: Encouraging factions to host their own events on the server. (I think this is basically a thing. I would consider this like wars and stuff, but the person insisted that this is unique. I think he meant more like players making events beyond wars and battles, but I do not know what that looks like.)
(To anyone that believes I forgot your suggestion or would like to include your own now that you have seen this board, please include it in the comments or dm me on discord under Taritie.)

I thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to personally send your thoughts Mido, it means a lot to me and those that made the suggestions!
I agree a great deal with your explanation and view on the matter of Role-play. I believe I have expressed this in my post, but the biggest reason why I did all of this is because people have told me they do not feel attached to any one faction. I wanted to discover a means of helping players feel more connected with the faction they chose.
With suggestion one, I would be super excited to see a poll that asks other what they would think about a channel in discord devoted to lore/role-play. I also would be in favor or seeing the server's ideas on simply a place in either enjin or discord where players could place backgrounds/stories(This is different from a lore section as this would be much more longer stretches of material) on lotr server events and/or wars that happen. I think this would help some of the players express themselves a bit more.

Hello there,
First of all, truly loving the suggestions! We are really happy with the initiative that you have shown by collecting all of these! I'll address the suggestions one by one, however first I would like to generally say that roleplay is a very player-heavy aspect of the server. Sure, we can promote it, but we can only do so until a certain degree, to ensure everyone can still play as they enjoy -- which differs immensely.
Suggestion 1: We consider the #general channel in Discord or the General Discussions channel on the forums a place for everything that is TOR related, including roleplay in the sense of your description. However, we can understand that you'd desire a more specific place for this, so if we see more likewise desire we might consider that. Perhaps in the future we can do a poll for the entire server, or perhaps the desire for it becomes so very clear after I post this, that remains to be seen for now. Know that until then, the general chats would welcome the roleplay as well!
Suggestion 2: As I had mentioned, roleplay is a very player-heavy aspect of TOR. This suggestion asks staff to intervene with internal faction rankings, taking away a liberty that was granted to faction leaders, for the sake of "enforcing" roleplay. This is something we simply will not do. However, it does not mean that it will not happen. Faction leaders already have the liberty to create requirements for their internal rankings, they are the ones to decide who gets to be the Lord of Lamedon and the Beggar of the Blackwoods! I recommend you to suggest this to your fellow players instead, ask the kings and queens around Middle-Earth for quests and adventures to increase your renown! We as staff cannot enforce this, but every faction leader can and is even invited to create their own requirements for rankings.
Suggestion 3: To me, this is almost identical to suggestion 1, so please correct me if I'm wrong on that. As for the custom faction part, the forum's Faction Recruiting channel is the number 1 spot to go to for custom faction posts, information, and propaganda. Combined with use of the aforementioned channels in suggestion 1, all custom faction desires should be met.
Suggestion 4: I don't fully understand what it means to make a weapon a lore-weapon. The current lore items are items which are more powerful than usual ones, this is due to their special background within the lore. If the request is for us to make certain items more powerful, due to an application stating the desire for that, we will not be doing it. If the request is for us to make certain items more special, due to whatever reason imaginable, that is already an option. Through the Patreon T3 benefits, you can add special lore-text to your items. This will tie them to a story, fit for roleplay purposes or whatever else you can imagine. In addition, we also have leadership lore items. As the name suggests, these are lesser lore items granted for leaders of factions. The Sultan of Harad has his prized Kopesh, the King of Gondor has his Crown, the famed Mayor of Bree has his carrot. Like so, there are plenty of items already to add onto roleplay, without counting standard lore items, and adding plenty of unique items you can make for yourself.
Suggestion 5: Roleplay is very dependent on the players involved. Rating and rewarding it, to me, does not feel beneficial to the parties involved. They are supposed to be entirely free of judgement and constraints when roleplaying, in my opinion judging them will take away from the experience. However, as per suggestion 1, if there's a clear desire for it, we can take another look at the suggestion and see from there.
Suggestion 6: As you are also confused by the suggestion, I'll just clarify the options which are there already. Indeed, players can create wars and sieges entirely on their own. This can be of any kind, with any agreements, as long as standard server rules are followed. We have some suggestions on how to handle wars and sieges, yet, they are only suggestions and therefore players can deviate to their heart's desires. In addition, we also have the ability for players to host events and to get a lore item as the prize for it. This in the past has been done often, and we hope to give players more incentive to do so more often yet again.
I hope to have properly addressed your suggestions, I absolutely love them and I'm beyond thrilled that you gathered them all up. As someone who loves his fair share of roleplay, you keep at it! As I said, it's all about the players, so be the change you want to see! We are excited to be implementing new changes over time which will also tackle some of the issues that you have mentioned. So be sure to stay tuned for that!
A belated Grand M. due to Enjin's lil dip.
